do you even know if bushwick has any private schools? cause i dont know. do you know the op's religion to even suggest a parochial?
i highly doubt that they would want a 4 or 5 year old to be commuting to school, but correct me if im wrong.

Despite both our ambition to start a home and the treasure the home itself holds, we aren't schooled on the neighborhood. More people have lent their negative feedback than anything else. We want safe, that's what we want. I would appreciate truthful helpful feedback from anyone who can lend it... We're off the Halsey stop of the JMZ... thanks
The Bushwick area is an area of change--if you want "safe," I would most likely NOT choose Bushwick. Not that the area is unsafe, but the area is definitely one that is urban, and one that is changing and becoming quickly gentrified. Keep in mind that there are still very many original residents in the neighborhood. The Halsey stop is pretty--with brownstones everywhere and clean looking, quiet streets. But, it is still Bushwick and it is still NYC. You may want to look at Williamsburg or Greenpoint, or Astoria, Queens. Bushwick is in transition, and still has a long way to go.

I hope I'm not getting to off topic here but since schools are a concern. There are several threads concerning NYC public schools on this forum. Most of the post just blame the parents. When a few posters point out other problems in schools these posters get attacked. IMO if you are a concerned parent in some neighborhoods you will also need money to send your child to a private or parochial school. So if that is a consideration the OP should be mindful of this.

I don't know much about Bushwick or the schools there, but if there aren't any private schools, and parochial is out of the question, then there would also be a question of would you have the extra time and could your child bear having to commute. Those would be serious considerations over just getting a good price for a home.

everything was on point with the exception of the stop being clean and quiet.....ocean hill houses are right there when you get off and it is not a safe housing project. check google maps.
