I'm looking for an antique store that is supposedly on 79th. The building was originally a Schrafts restaurant years and years ago. Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

That's on East 79th St. In Manhattan you have to specify East or West...

There was a "Schrafts" on the west side of Broadway, bet 79th and 80th streets. I don't know when it closed, I moved to The Bronx in 1961.

That answered it, thanks! I'm assuming it's the only antique store in that particular area?

I remember the Schrafft's on East 79th. I also remember the one at Broadway and 81st Street. The one on Broadway is now a Barnes & Noble bookstore.
The one on East 79th is a retail store for interior decoration, but there are LOTS of antique shops and other stores like that in that area.

Viral, it's the one on E 79th that I'm interested in. Do you know the name of the store that's in there now? What do they carry, pier one type stuff?

I don't know the name, but I can definitively tell you that this is not an establishment that would carry anything like Pier 1 merchandise. This ain't a 'Pier 1 neighborhood' with Christie's around the corner and designer boutiques all along that stretch of Madison.
