East Flatbush is tricky cause it's a big neighborhood. Therefore, some blocks are quiet (I'd say the closer to Flatlands the better), but other parts are just hood (especially the 90s).

Well then, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, and Flatbush seem to be up your alley. In that order is most expensive to least expensive (which is still expensive).

i doubt i can afford any more than 800 by myself

You might want to look into ads that are looking for roommates or if you know someone who would want to roommate with you, you can make it happen.

good idea, i dont feel public housing would be a good option

LOL Definitely not. Besides, depending on your time frame, you might have no luck getting any public housing in a short amount of time. Some people wait for years before they get a place.
