So now I'm freakin out! I cant find a roommate for Spring 2014 and "on-campus" housing will cost me my life savings. I currently live in South Florida and will be moving to New York to attend John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

My budget is $1000, I'm not picky about the place as long as its in a safe area and my roommate isnt a psycho. I dont care about smoking as long as its outdoor. I would perfer the person is tidy or at least cleans up after themselves.

A little about me: I'm 21 and a female. I have no pets (allergic), I do not smoke, I do drink socially. I'm very laid back and mostly keep to myself but I am also pretty outgoing. I can get along with anyone. I am new to the area so I may ask a few questions but I'm pretty self sufficient. I am a HUGE Miami Dolphins and Heat fan so I watch a lot of sports.

I will be traveling up in November to see a few places and look around. If you think we scould get along, shoot me an email cbear1085@gmail.com or if you have any pointers that would be awesomeeeee!

Guess you will just have to live in a box under the manhattan bridge since there is not one single roommate in the whole wide world for you.

Yeah, I've got a pretty large box so I might be able to set up shop in Times Square.

What areas did you look in? There are several neighborhoods where you can get a studio or 1 bedroom apt for $1000 per month and wouldn't need a roommate.

Also, keep in mind that it will be hard finding an apartment and roommate now for next spring.

You said you can't find a roommate and you're coming up in November to look at some places. What neighborhoods are you looking in?

Check out PC Richards or any other large appliance store. When they get new model stoves, fridges, or washing machines they display them and discard the boxes. You could get yourself a nice roomy box with up to 30 sqf or space. Hell, if you are a bit creative you could combine the boxes and make yourself a suite. No roommates, no overhead, no problem
