And forecasters were saying this was an "active hurricane season" but it turned out to be quite the opposite. I remember this time last year, when I lived by the beach, being terrified. I miss living close to the water, but am quite scared to move back that way, to be honest. Many people predicted a yearly storm, saying that Irene hit in 2011, then Sandy in 2012. What do you guys think? I guess there is always the possibility of a storm hitting again (although unlikely that it would be the same strength and size of Sandy), but do you think a lot of it is just doom and gloom?
No hurricane this year thankfully but that doesn't rule out a blizzard in the winter, like the one we had a year or two ago. With the climate and weather patterns becoming increasingly unpredictable it's uncertain what kinds of storms we'll have in the future; it's always good to be prepared for natural disasters.

Post Karina, many experts claimed that Katrina-level storms would be the new norm of the gulf mexico coasts for the next 30 years because of the cycle to the warm water bodies. How reliable are our experts' forecast? Just give them a good applaud and say good bye.
