If the polls right, DeBlasio will win the non-poor vote, perhaps they find "the tale of two cities tale" appealing.

Perhaps you'd prefer Toronto's mayor?
Rob Ford [Toronto's mayor] just confessed to smoking crack, but it was during a drunken stupor.

Not packed yet, but it could happen. There's not nearly as much keeping me here as there used to be.

As for the prostitution, you don't need stop and frisk to arrest people for street prostitution. Ditto for street drug dealing. You use undercover cops for that. Also, the federal judge's ruling (which has been appealed) did not ban stop and frisk. The judge said the cops would have to have evidence the person committed a crime, was in the act of committing a crime or about to commit a crime. Examples breaking into something, running away from a crime scene, or about to do a crime like having a crowbar outside a window or apartment building.
|
It isn't JUST stop and frisk. There was an entire change of attitude. The cops got more aggressive about going after little things. And the prostitution thing is real. When I moved to my neighborhood, there used to be a stroll a few blocks away. I'd routinely see streetwalkers there (this was during Dinkins.) Haven't seen them in years. I had a sister who live on Lex in the mid-20's, which was a notorious stroll, they used to have marches to protest the hookers. Again, never see anything down there any more. The cops took care of it. We'll see how long it takes to come back.
We can also watch the numbers. I'm pretty sure by the time Bla's first term is up, we're pushing, if not over 1,000 murders a year (from in the 400s now.)

But if you truly think things will get that bad, then you should probably bail out of town. There's no point in staying.

Topped off with a black wife that goes both ways and a son with an afro. You can see why the libturds came out full force for De Blasio. OBAMA had the same message and he won.
Now I ask all the poor and working poor people on this board who voted for Obama, 6 years into the Obama administration, are you better off now than better? Did you suddenly move up in the social classes because Obama is president? Are you rich yet because Obama is president?
What makes you think De Blasio is any better?
|
I never thought it was the job of the President or the mayor to move me up in the social classes or make me rich. I thought if I wanted those things, it was up to me to make them happen.
I voted for Obama, and I am perfectly fine with the way things are now. I voted for de Blasio too.

Well, if all the people on this forum who say they are going to leave NYC leave, then NYC will be even more liberal and de Blasio will get a second term!

Never mind the fact that the city had its highest level of murders in the context of a national crack cocaine era.
As for de Blasio, there's no point in whining. Put your money when your mouth is and move, if you hate the idea of him being mayor so much.

A few simplistic things I don't understand. With all the things / changes he talks about, it will obviously require more revenues. Cuomo already shot down further taxing of the rich. So where will that revenue come from? Taxes on everyone of course. Or a reduction in other services.
People are disillusioned if they don't think upper middle class (or very low end of wealthy) people leave the city. When making $250k either gets you an hour commute from a suburb or squeezed like a sardine on the subway paying half your income for a 2-br cookie-cutter apartment, and the quality of life drastically decreases, people leave. And then the domino effect begins.
