I walked over to First Avenue to cheer. Just watching them made my left knee ache. But I was filled with respect for the stamina of some of my fellow humans.
Went to early dinner later and on the walk home about 5 I passed several of them shivering and wrapped in that plastic wrap they give them hobbling their way home.
I ran it and when I ran by "deals" I thought oh this is the place KK always raves about. Oh and I was one of those shivering on my way home. Today was a chilly one.
Yep, that's the one at 101st and First. And then you must have run by the other joint, the METROPOLITAN MARKET at 107th.
Congratulations on the finish livingsinglenyc...I envy you.
Thank you. These get harder every year I don't know why I keep doing them
I missed seeing metropolitan market. I was too busy looking at the buildings. I bet I was looking at ML buildings.
Second straight time I had friends running but this time I saw them, mostly because they made a map of where all their friends would be so they knew where to look. I watched from between mile 13 and 14 in Long Island City along 48th avenue just off the Pulaski Bridge. I walk a lot but don't think I could ever do the marathon but it's cool to watch, especially with friends running in it.
I have tried training for a long run, perhaps THE long run, but the same thing happens. By the end of the first month my knees, both of which sustained cartilage damage years ago, start screaming in pain. Ligaments connecting top and bottom to the kneecap inflame. The more I push the running the more likely I will find myself unable to WALK.
So no more experimentation with running for me...the risk is too great.
So I watch...and CHEER (and then get my exercise on a Nautilus/Lifecycle/Cybex Circuit and the occasional bike.)
