I am back in metro Detroit and noticed 3 NY license plates on just my own street. They are literally everywhere. What's up with that?

Watch out for those dudes with NY license plates over there, it's must be those city-data stalkers following

Rental cars.

I know that when I drive home, all my neighbors know that I'm back because of the license plate on the car I drove there so I'd say that isn't a common occurrence. I also don't ever see many NY plates that are non rentals when I'm back in Michigan either.

New York people are busy and travel quite a bit...

BTW I highly doubt new york people are moving to Detroit.

Ya know that New York license plates apply to the entire state of New York, not just the city, right?

Regardless as to whether that is true or not, what does that have to do with seeing NY license plates in MI? You just assume they're from NYC? SMH.

Probably just visitors or rental cars. They might not even be from NYC but Buffalo or Schenectady... who knows.

I've been noticing an increase in Midwestern license plates in Queens over the past year or so, specifically in and around Astoria and LIC; Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, etc... Wouldn't be that surprised if these are newly arrived transplants judging by the local economies of Midwestern cities and towns like Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland.

Michigan as a whole has been in a downward economic spiral for years and I know a lot of people born in Michigan have moved to New York and other states. They all say the same thing--no jobs in Michigan even if you are well educated. Working at Wal-Mart or Target is considered a good postion there. I imagine a lot of people drive home rather than fly.

Anyway, its just speculation on my part.
