Doesn't work like that. You were hired then but the plan went effective before then and is negotiated through the union. When the next contract is up though this will be not an issue but THE issue. Something like 90 percent of city employees are in the plan that doesn't pay into premiums but that means this Cadillac tax will kill the city in 5 years supposedly so they want the unions to find cheaper healthcare but that means passing cost to us.
You're gonna see the promise of retro pay dangled in front of us if we agree to pay for our health care. And we'd be idiots to want it.
Retro sounds great but in the end as everything stands now, we will screw ourselves bigtime. Give us our raises going forward and call it a day. To get that cash we will have to give up things, and honestly we have given enough. Our healthcare is not negotiable. As much as I would love that money, big picture it will only hurt us.

You know as I do that some people on this job will kill their mom for 60 cents and dump money. 60 tons? No prob
This is what they'll jump for....5% raise with a 6% payment into healthcare. Because all they will see is raise then they want to know where their money is
since i have class A...are they going to want me to come back to get trained on the wrecker? i really dont want to if i dont have to
