Parfaits Not Perverts: Inside NYC's First 'Maid Cafe': Gothamist

As much as a weaboo I am... I'm still a bit too self conscious to actually go into one of those places. Heard about this on ANNcast, where they described it as a Maid-Cafe disguised as a innocent Bubble Tea place.
Not optimistic about its chances, something this niche, in a place as expensive as NYC.

Curious though....

I'm a big animation fan, but I will not want to eat in this place. Maybe a fun hangout spot for young teens,
but I think it will be kind of awkward for adult men to hangout at places like these. People will think of you
as a perv or pedophile looking for something else other than food in there. Maybe I'm wrong with how
much acceptance people in NYC will be to this idea, but I'm skeptical there are enough people to love
them long time. This is not Japan.

This is not a place most people would go regularly, lol. I'm curious and would be willing to check it out once.

They are not super models, but first girl on the left is kind of cute.

Like I said, I'm a bit too self conscious despite being somewhat of an anime fan....but god would it be awkward.

I saw Anthony Bourdain's Tokyo trip on CNN last week. He said these places are extremely popular in Japan. I think it'll survive here. Whether or not it'll become a thing, I don't know.
