There is a reason Obama delayed the employer mandate, because thats when the real pain kicks on. Only 5million people lost the insurance with individual mandate so its not a big deal to our Dear Leader.

Sorry to turn this anti-rich people thread into an Obamacare thread, but its somewhat related because socialism costs money. Socialism is great until you have to pay for it.
This isn't accurate; employers can't simply drop employees onto the exchanges unless they reduce them to part time. They can also pass the cost of better insurance on to employees by cutting wages.

Will this happen en masse? I dunno, maybe. Like I said Obamacare's a disaster, no argument from me.

All I asked was if the Commuter Tax was done away with under Bloomberg's administration.

In fact, I wasn't even talking to YOU, so if you had nothing useful to say you shouldn't have commented at all.

But I don't understand how you feel you can get away with insulting me though?

Who are you? You're this invisible poster that no one cares about nor pays attention to. This is probably how your REAL LIFE is. I'm sorry for you. I wish people gave a damn about you, but it's not my fault you're not important enough for anyone to care. *kanye shrug*

And a Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.

Socialism is wonderful.
Actually, elements of socialism ARE wonderful. All civilized societies on this earth are quasi-socialist. Even super-wealthy, hyper pro-wealth Qatar has mandated healthcare. Germany is one of the most capitalist countries on earth but still has many socialist policies, including universal health care. The United States is the last first world country on earth that passed a comprehensive mandated health law. And no, the United States does not have the world's best healthcare system...that would go to France (according to the World Health Organization).

FWIW, the United States has always had socialist elements. Go live in a third world country where there are no taxes, rampant pre-mature death, terrible services and dirt roads and come back and tell us how lovely your life is there. This hyper right-wing induced "socialism" hysteria is absolutely ridiculous. Did you know that under our "socialist" president, the top 1% are the richest they've ever been in history? 95% of income gains in the past 6 years have gone to the 1%. The amount of billionaires and high net worth people created under our "socialist" president has been staggering. Obama is a very moderate president. If Obama were a true a socialist, he would have taken a page from Swedish handbook (where there are hardly any super rich, and everyone is middle class) and redistributed all of those gains to our middle and lower classes whom if which are still struggling; but we all know that could never happen. The United States will always be a very capitalist country, even if we adopted full-blown universal health coverage. Germany manages to do well, and outpaces the United States by most metrics (average wealth, education, health). The rest of our laws are tilted towards the wealthy.

FYI - I am well-off and very pro wealth and as far as I am concerned, Bloomberg is the best mayor in NYC history and I agree -- you can never have too many rich people anywhere. But all civilized societies need large social nets for the people who aren't in the top 1%.

Look at how poor our middle-class is compared to these "socialist" countries:

Socialized Health Care can work beautifully...even in the uber-capitalist United States.
One need only look at JOHSONCARE, aka Medicare.

It works just fine for its 48 MILLION enrollees.

It was NYS Democrats under the leadership of S. Silver that did away with the commuter tax. They played right into the Republican's hands and thus it stands little chance if ever being resurrected.

At the time Silver and his party were fighting for an upstate seat that was in play, and hoped that by doing away with the commuter tax they would win an upcoming election. It didn't work and NYC is still stuck with the results.
