I see police check outs every now and then, but it's just not enough. The new WTC is probably the safest in the world against terror attacks because of

All vehicles are checked before going into garage, so an attack like the '93 van bomb is very unlikely.
All employees are required to have a security clearance card. Guests are also given an ID with their face on it for the of visit.
There are new metal detectors and scanners for everyone coming in
There's also the fact that Airport security has improved since 9/11 and they see through every package/person.

There should be all sorts of scanners on the turnstiles, and cameras everywhere. There should also be MTA guards or even drones patrolling the subways and cars, scanning the interiors and checking for any anomalies. As it is now subway commuters are at the mercy of the insane should they decide to go on a rampage.

You do realize the new WTC is 20 feet from the West Side Highway right? A big enough bomb in the back of a box truck wouldn't do terrible damage but it would surely kill a couple of people.

Besides, if the government wants another war, something bad will happen somewhere sooner or later.

Are you forgetting the people in the train? It would kill everyone in the car. Not only that all it takes is for one sociopath to decide to rampage through a train with a sub machine gun. MTA security right now vulnerable. It's like they are waiting for something bad to happen to justify upgrading it.

And just what do you think you can do? If you put TSA-style security on every subway entrance, the city would grind to a halt. What do you expect to scan for at the turnstile, that won't go off constantly? Cameras ARE everywhere, but they won't stop an attack by an attacker who doesn't care if he gets caught or killed after the attack.

Something like this happening is an inherent risk of living in a city, but its also a one and a million thing. I'll take my chances and still ride the subway.
