I'm currently staying in Astoria during my visit and would like to visit the Flushing Chinatown. It seems there are no convenient public transit options between the 2 destinations.. Here's what I've considered:
1. 60 bus.. would take about 70 minutes each way if google maps' optimistic directions are to be trusted.
2. Subway. Take N to queensboro and transfer to 7. Could take longer than the bus, at least on paper.
3. Taxi. This may actually be worthwhile if coming with a group of friends considering the ridiculously short distance between the 2 points vs the ridiculously long public transit times.

Not sure how it could be 70 minutes. I'd guess 40 minutes depending on waiting times and your exact location. Faster if you can catch the 7 express train, which only runs late afternoon / evenings for rush hour.
The direct option would be the Q19 bus. However, it's infrequent and I've heard it can be unreliable at times (the M60 only goes to LGA, not Flushing).
Taking the N/Q to the 7 should be relatively quick. Just take the N/Q to QBP, climb up a flight of stairs, and take the 7. Going back, the 7 train comes in on the lower level, so you have to climb up again to get to the N/Q.
During rush hour, you have the 7 express to Flushing. Trains are marked with a red diamond. The locals are marked with a green circle, and take a little longer, but they eventually go to Flushing. Trains generally run less than 10 minutes apart for most of the day.
