I am interested in volunteering those in need in NYC roughest neighborhoods. I know theres Volunteermatch , but I was wondering if anyone on here of a more " local" place where I can inquire about volunteering.

I am particularly interested in helping out at-risk youth, homeless, teen mothers , etc.

Thank you for any suggestions !

You can do that anyplace ---- those problems don't only exist in the 'bad' neighborhoods. Look up Social Service Organizations on google or bing

Go directly to the churches, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Jewish Board, New York Cares, ACQC, GMHC, and any number of organizations that deal with the poorest people. The organization doesn't always have to be in the roughest neighborhood as people TRAVEL to organizations when they need help.
