I was there pre-sandy, I'm wondering what happened that day, were all pools filled with salt water and fishes got out?
They're fine. But I went there post-sandy (I think I went in the summer?) and they still had a portion of it closed. The aquarium felt very small and not worth the money.
the bronx zoo membership is the best way to see the aquarium. i always felt by itself if you were paying it was to expensive for what was really there.

Life is not always about money---- take a small child or grandchild to a place like this and watch them light up with excitement and the cost of admission quickly fades away.
we saw the young kids getting bored there yesterday . all the real impressive stuff was not there.
the kids really do not want to see a flounder swimming.
they want the sharks, the sea lions , the jelly fish ,etc.
we wouldn't think of bringing the grand kids there yet.
