Some POC don't want to hang out with white people either.

Gotta love a show like England's ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS, which uses extraordinary humor to spoof Patsy and Edina living the life that Carrie Bradshaw aspired to, with one exception: Carrie was a whiny bore played by an annoying actress.
I LOVED this show!!! Especially the daughter Saffy and how she was more grown up than her mother Edina! Patsy and Edina were living the life! I love this quote of Patsy's (speaking as a senior fashion editor): "With one snap of my fingers I can raise hemlines so high, the world's your gynecologist!"

Why not just call it a fictitious city, it's no longer NY when you take away the diversity.

Depends on the country of origin. For example, some of the best hip hop DJs out there happen to be Filipino.

If a black woman speaks English correctly, has a graduate degree, earns a six figure income, lives in a non violent 'hood, listens to a wide range of music, enjoys broadway, etc, she's an oreo, not a black woman?
