This. Record cold is "ahh oh well, just stay inside the house and you're good"

Record hot you can't escape anywhere

If you are a grown adult then yes you "choose" to live here. If you are a child still living with your family then yes you may be correct.

According to CBS/NBC this morning it is a balmy 9 degrees but feels like -7 degrees with the wind-chill factor.

Big Apple Hit With Record Setting Cold Snap - NY1

Even if one "chose" (which I use loosely as sometimes even adults due to circumstances can't just live where they might want to) this is not the normal cold that NYers are used but quite a bit worse.

Gotta love the way the weather people need new gimmicks.
"Polar Vortex" of Weather Channel fame used to be called a "Blue Norther" and then it was changed to "Alberta Clipper."

Does anyone else remember those two old names for the same thing?

You know POLAR VORTEX could be one of the wrestlers on SYFY <siffy?> Friday night for 2 friggen wasted hours now that NBC, the owner, has formally admitted that Professional Wrestling is pure fiction. Science, maybe not so much?
His gimmick could be icicles hanging from his nipples.

To put this in perspective, I remember days when NYC was below 0F. 4F is cold, but not as bad as the news is making it.

I went to college in Syracuse. -14F, anyone?
