It's good to know that you and many others popping off about your "wonderful" life will never find yourselves in the predicaments of these other people.

They didn't either.
And there's also your social connections.

Obviously SOMEONE is getting hired by employers that pay a lot of money. Otherwise they'd be no rich and no upper middle class people.

The problem is in NYC, people often don't interact outside of their social class/neighborhood. So a poor person often WON'T know anyone doing better, and often doesn't have friends or family to advise on careers, etc.

What Marilyn said about is always how leftists have talked. Everything is always so terrible, no one will ever improve their lots in life, etc. Standard leftist talk.

WTF! WHY ARE WE WASTING TIME ARGUING ABOUT FEEDING PEOPLE WHEN CORPORATIONS ARE RAPING US ALL????
Does this mean you're going to lower the rents in your apartment building? Since the "man" is "raping" people, surely you don't want to be a part of this process and "rape" them on rents?

In the words of one Republican, "I was never hired by anyone poorer than me."

Its why hating on rich people and big companies is silly. Everyone on the internet is using a device made by a major company. Not by the welfare agency.

Obviously there are a number of well off people in NYC . Rather than hating the rich and hating hipsters, you might ask them how they became successful instead of letting jealousy drive you made.

The bottom line is food stamps are being CUT, and those dependent on them will need to make alternative plans.

A big chunk of the country NEVER made much more than the minimum wage. Yet these people always dealt it. They lived in affordable areas. Or they had roommates, lived with family, etc. As they do now.

Without these sweatshops and slave wages, the companies would have resorted to automation and gotten rid of these low wage employees altogether.

well, it is an big stretch to blame all the world's problems on big corps. their rulers have to be responsible for the welfare of their own ppl. many of the chinese were starve to death under mao's leadership. but 30 years later, their leaders turned things around and now they are trying to take over the rest of the world...

as long as american corps bring profit home and pay into the tax pot/welfare system, they are forgiven for their sins overseas

The doctor is providing the McD employee with a SERVICE. He isn't his employer as the doctor has many different patients of all income levels. Ditto the electrician, who is an independent contractor.

The doctor, if he doesn't have his own practice is employed by a hospital or medical practice. NOT by the PATIENT. And yes, the hospital or medical practice have more money than the doctor.

The electricity may work for someone else's electricity company, and be an employee that way. But they are not legally hired by people who pay them for services.

When someone hires you, they have to verify whether you have legal status to work in the US and they have to present you with tax papers. Patients don't present doctors with such documents, nor do homeowners present electricians with such documents.

So in the words of the Republican, "I have never been hired by anyone poorer than me" applies. Please tell me how someone POORER than you can officially hire you (not buy a product or a service from you as that is a very different thing).

And the McDonalds employee himself is hired by a big company who has a lot more money than he does.
