regardless of class, lazy people find ways to get over on everybody else.
that's why this world is so screwed up now, but it will never change, so
you might as well stop trying to stigmatize one element of society all the

What does not having to pay interest payments have to do with "creating our own money interest free" (your words)?

unfortunately, the current ruling president keeps bumping up american debt limit, part of it would allow him and family going on those fancy presidential vacations. that is the morality of it.
And the other part - lest we forget - is to pay for those wars and social entitlements. Let's face it, America for most of recent history spends more than what it makes and has racked up huge debt balances already. Even if you stop brrowing today, you already have a mountain of debt behind your back and with that goes the interest payments.
Mr. marilyn, there are different types of poors, and do not lump them all in one bag in your arguments.
there are working poors who try hard to make it, and there are handicapped poors who could not do anything on their own. from what I understand, many are willing to help them.
then there are a growing amount of lazy poors, who resort to the welfare system before trying hard enough on their own. these are picked on here. straighten out your thoughts before you type them out with uncontrolled emotions.
I was responding to SOBRO's post about why people aren't talking about how messed up the corporations are.
Picking on the so-called "lazy poor" is something many on this forum get off on doing. The truth is there is no "lazy poor" in NYC anymore. All of them are forced to participate in WEP three days a week and the other two is spent in work center that does nothing for them. NYC HRA doesn't want them HOME, so even if they're not cleaning the streets, subways and city agencies for them, they want an accounting of ALL of their hours for 35 to 40 hours a week.

There are also people who are poor due to issues like addiction and mental illness. I wouldn't quite call these people handicapped, but they do have issues they need to resolve or get treated before they can work. There's a lot of that in poor NYC neighborhoods. Go into any poor neighborhood and the liquor store and the corner convenience store (beer) get lots of sales. Not to mention people getting high off a number of drugs.
I'm not saying people with money never drink or get high (that's certainly not true) but I am saying hard core use/addiction is a major factor in maintaining poverty. As is a history of crime.
With that said, I agree with you. There are people who scream out "the poor, "the poor" without examining that there are a variety of reasons and factor responsible for both poverty and social mobility.
Is your Ideal society one where this no welfare, no minimum wages... badically wanting the US to be like a thirld world country...
The national debt is huge but it has nothing to do with the pointless wars that cost TRILLIONS blame the national debt on the poor ...
In the words of one Republican, "I was never hired by anyone poorer than me."
Its why hating on rich people and big companies is silly. Everyone on the internet is using a device made by a major company. Not by the welfare agency.
Obviously there are a number of well off people in NYC . Rather than hating the rich and hating hipsters, you might ask them how they became successful instead of letting jealousy drive you made.
The bottom line is food stamps are being CUT, and those dependent on them will need to make alternative plans.
A big chunk of the country NEVER made much more than the minimum wage. Yet these people always dealt it. They lived in affordable areas. Or they had roommates, lived with family, etc. As they do now.
It is tough to be a conservative in NY, state or city. Helping those less fortunate is the responsibility of all of us who are able to help.
Having incentive to take care of yourself and your family is an individual responsibility and a duty. Unfortunately too much assistance takes away incentive and that is dangerous for those who are producers of not only goods, but services AND JOBS. It is a danger to society overall as well. By the way, individuals and families, not just corporations, are also producers.

The root of the problem is that the takers have the votes to elect those who give away our fish, to those who should be out their fishing for themselves.
Unfortunately, the elected liberal government seems more inclined to stay in power by keeping poor people poor than by creating real jobs, growing the economy and actually helping people fish.
Give a man a fish and you feed him a meal.
Beat him with the fish and he will leave you alone and fend for himself.
Well said Marilyn...at the rate things are going we will all be on food stamps so that businesses and corporations can keep driving up their stock prices. Why pay people a living wage or provide any benefits when the government will pay for their food, rent, retirement, healthcare, etc. Companies have pushed almost the entire cost of employees onto the government...AND they go further and offshore revenue so they don't even pay taxes.
WTF! WHY ARE WE WASTING TIME ARGUING ABOUT FEEDING PEOPLE WHEN CORPORATIONS ARE RAPING US ALL????
