Try Montague St in Brooklyn Heights. Some high end shopping, and restaurants. Have lunch at Lassen Hennings for good deli food. Go to the promenade to see lower Manhattan from across the river.
Any good shopping malls in Brooklyn? Here is some of them :
Fulton Mall in Downtown Brooklyn,
Atlantic terminal mall in Boerum Hill (next to Barclays Center),
Kings Plaza in Marine Park
For the most part New York City is not a place to look for MALLS. You will be greatly disappointed if you are used to the suburban malls all over the country. The three listed here are nothing but dumps and not really malls. That is not to say there are not a lot of places to shop but rather they just are not in MALLS.
The suburbanization of NYC is coming...particularly to the Bronx (for better or worse). I didn't even mention all the other "mall" type shopping centers coming to the borough over the next 18 months!
Right, like Willet's Point and what they originally wanted to do with the Kingsbridge Armory...I believe someone wants to turn part of the Navy Yard into a mall too. Does anyone know what is behind all these malls? Why malls? Who wants them? I don't get it.

I think anyone who has ever lived in the suburbs or is visiting from the suburbs knows the value of a Mall.
People who are city folk don't see the value as evidenced in your question. Actually I think a mixture of the two may be the best solution if possible.

From my experience with Queens Center, it brings a crazy overcrowded and congested shopping experience with the potential risk of a stampede.
