It stays affortable as long as you live there reguardless of how much you make. Me and my wife have done tons of research on this for our unit.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

Once you get the below market rate your in. Your unit stays rent stabilized. Yes you do have to recertify in some cases but you no longer need to "qualify" for the unit. The landlord cannot raise it to more than what the city allows them under the rent stabilization guidelines. This doesn't just go for lottery apartments, but all rent stabilized unit across the city.

This is why he interview process is so exhausting. They want to make sure you qualify because once your in; your in for life (unless you break the rules or can't pay the rent).
