What do you think of the "new city" rising in the HY? This one area around Javits will be bigger than most American downtowns. I think it's amazing.

I am a former New Yorker and was back in the city recently for a visit. I was impressed.

I think it sucks, without the football stadium that was supposed to go with it.

They will basically do with it what they did with Columbus Circle, turning it into a lavish, luxurious, glossy experience. They will even use the same anchor company, Time Warner, who will be leaving Columbus Circle and moving to the Hudson Yards development. I think it will be glorious, especially with the 7 train extension. The only thing is the far west side is exactly that...FAR!

No place for the middle class in NYC. Only the rich and poor prosper here.

Football stadium for the Jets = 8 games a year (with a possible additional playoff game). Players do not live or pay taxes in New York. Subsidies for a billionaire owner. Jets in Manhattan would have been fun, but a complete economic loser, even with an annual Bruce Springsteen concert.

Let them play in the Meadowlands. There are much more productive things you can do with vacant land in Manhattan than build a football stadium.

Yeah the Jets Stadium would have been amazing for the city. It would have become the #1 venue for concerts, events, and the associated convention center would have brought in so much business. Instead we'll just get more skyscrapers. Don't get me wrong, those skyscrapers are going to look great and bring up the neighborhood, but the stadium would have been an order of magnitude better for the people of NYC

Agreed.

I went to WrestleMania last year, and the event would have been a MUCH bigger deal if it had been in Manhattan. Same with the Super Bowl this weekend.

Instead, New Jersey is going to take all of Peyton Manning's money, lol.

At my age, I have zero interest on anything built in Manhattan. Been there done that, over it.
I could care less if a stadium or luxury apartments are built over HY.

Manhattan is NOT the center of everyone's universe.
