You're losing me. According to the poster, the man whose seat the woman reclined into was calm, even after she cussed him out.
Put yourself in the shoes of a convicted felon with a short fuse who just gets his knees rammed. He asks nicely for her to be considerate, and this crazy hoe flips out. If the guy has a knife, that woman is getting stabbed
I worked there for 2.5 years after going to school back in LA and growing up in NJ. I'll be the first to admit that I couldn't handle it and moved back to LA about 6 months ago. As another poster said above, it's not for me. A lot of kids from my high school ended up in NYC and Hoboken and are there because they think it's the 'be all end all' or they aren't lucky enough to leave.
Personally, I think we're all a lot more lucky out here with the great weather year round. They say if you can make it in NYC you can make it anywhere. I say if you can kiss a lot of ass you can make it in NYC, but might have trouble in other places :O

This cliche is all about having enough tolerance to persevere anything and keep working until you're successful in such a competitive environment. It's completely true, if you can deal with all the BS here and come out on top, you're not going to find a bigger challenge anywhere else in the US

I thought New Yorkers are super direct? Why would there be any BS on the way to the top?

That's exactly it, either it's for you or it's not.....I never understood people who leave and come back. My uncle did this recently...came back here from Florida. And he's beyond miserable here, he complains non-stop about the cold..I said to him, but you lived here for most of your life, you know it's cold here, so why come back from Florida? He just doesn't think things through. Either way, he's going back to Florida this June.
If nice weather is important to you (like it is for me), this is not the place for you. Too extreme, one way or the other. My mood lifts considerably when it's sunny and 70 degrees, and this weather has me so depressed.

LOL, it's true. I would have cursed her from here to Sunday. She was unreal, and she kept going on and on...the whole 1 hr. ride home!
I could write a book of things I've seen on the express bus. One guy told a girl that was sitting next to him that her mother was a w***re because she asked him to move over a bit. She looked like she was going to cry. The people here can just be so unbelievably rude. (and yes I am aware there are rude people everywhere)
I don't take the subway much, I take the bus...I don't see a lot of interaction on there, mainly when I do, it's people fighting! LOL..
Saw a woman recline her seat on to another guy's legs the other day. The guy politely asked her if she could move her seat up a bit because he was tall and it was uncomfortable for her to basically be reclined all the way...she started cursing him out, calling him an "arrogant ___, etc.". I couldn't believe it. the poor guy was dumbfounded.
I've seen fights like that on the subway. But yes, generally people on the subway like people to the bus keep to themselves.
