Corona is one of those neigborhoods that's ghetto but not dangerously ghetto.
There is ghetto activity all over but you don't have to worry about getting killed. Probably a lot of grilling, fighting and at worst drunks stabbing eachother.
I'm actually more interested in Lefrak City as opposed to the people who keep saying stay away.

I've personally never seen any of that, and I go to Corona regularly. Maybe it happens inside the projects

No. Junction blvd is def known for that. Even the locals will tell you. My Ecuadorean friend at my job actually lived in Jackson heights and corona and he had plenty of stories to tell. Plus he was part of the gang ABK.
Also I'm surprised you haven't heard of drunk fighting. Judging by what I read on the news I tend to see a lot of drunk fights or fights that lead to stabbings in the corona/elmhurst/Jackson heights areas.
But as far as murder does I wouldn't say these areas are killers. For murders that's easily Jamaica/south Jamaica/far rock.
Corona is better than the bad neighborhoods in Brooklyn and the Bronx though.

I have no problem walking through Corona during the day. Haven't really been at night so not sure about that. Some of it looks poor in but there are some nice parts. They have really improved the plaza at 103rd and Roosevelt and it looks quite nice. Also there are some nice places to visit in Corona like the Louis Armstrong Museum, Mamma's Leo Latticini and Tortilleria Nixtamal, the taco place owned by the firefighter who grinds his own corn meal for the tortillas. There are a few good Italian places as well.
Of course a drunk might stab another drunk in a fight at 3 AM that doesn't make it dangerous. The gang stuff used to be worse 10+ years ago but I don't think it's much of an issue any more, maybe any active Corona gang members reading the thread can correct me

I also see that Lefrak is more diverse also.
Lefrak is very different than the rest of Corona. Probably less diverse as well. Corona will have mexicans, dominicans, etc...as well as Chinese and even still a few italians left over whereas lefrak is mostly just black and russian.

Black and Russian? Thought it was black and Rican?
I don't consider a neighborhood with the different ethnic groups of the same racial background as diverse ( I know Hispanic is not a race but you get my point).
In that sense east Flatbush would be diverse also.
I always had the notion that corona was just basically Hispanic and that lefrak was mostly black/white/Hispanic.

I know a few Africans who live there also.
Corona is mostly Hispanic (over 80%) and a small Chinese population. IMO it isn't a very diverse neighborhood at all.
