I received a verbal offer for a DOT position in October and was told it could be a few weeks to a few months to get a letter or call from them for a start date. Does anyone have any direct experience with how long it took DOT to officially hire them? It's going on 5 months now and I'm worried it's not a 'done deal'.

DOT hires part time help in the winter. Considering the winter we have had if you have not been called yet I suspect there is an issue with your application.

I would go back to the person who gave you what you think was a verbal offer and see what they say again about the process. If you get that meeting your main question should be the steps in the process and the expected time line.

I am in the process of taking a new job and it is taking much longer than I would like but with background checks and all the process can really be drawn out.
