that take a load of your head.My friend was in one of the last groups from the last test and he said that it wasn't to easy either. the only thing is that you have to pay for everything. With dsny they take 25 a week out of pay.

i'm not to sure but i don't think rental trucks have air breaks

I have no choice,my permit expires 1/09,no way am I going to take the written tests all over again. It doesn't matter to me how long it takes to get my CDL,all I want is to get it before my permit expires next year. I am not even in the 1st round,my list number might not be called for at least another 2 yrs.

The pre trip inspection is the number one reason why people fail. They won't even let you take the skills/driving part of the test if you fail the pre trip.

sometime they give you a break on the pre trip inspection I didn't realy know what i was doing on it but as long as you know a little bit they let you slide with some parts but maybe it was just the guy i had.

an i think you can renew your permit before it expires with out taking the test again

Oh I didn't know that. On the pre trip you don't have to go under the truck or anything like that right? Just under the hood and around the truck from top to bottom. I think it is overkill,we are not going to be diesel mechanics, the air brakes are the most important part of the pre trip. You are right though it depends on the road test examiner, still it is good to be prepared and know everything that might be on the pre trip.

DSNY collection trucks are 30ft long right?

i dont think so.look up the old post that talked about it.if i remember correctly he said he passed his med, drug etc, then took the cdl training and then waited for 6 months.had to take the med again.i think dsny calls in a 1000 or so ,gets a eligible list and calls off that list over time.now if your dr allen no 1 ,well thats a different story.

The pre-trip Inspection is a major attribute to whether you pass or fail. The DMV CDL Manual has good info but, it is somewhat "vague" and requires you to take training.

grins, "ryder" rents (the white trucks) w/airbrakes depending on commercial weight class- you just need a commercial driver to rent it.
