Just a new thing to throw into what seems a never-ending ****storm.. guys looking to retire no longer have that 1 year window (grace period) to come back on the job..ojt guys know what i mean, union pretty much telling you when u want to leave, make sure it's for real because you got a snowballs chance in hell of getting back on.. city can hire five guys at **** pay rather than put you back on..
Also, why is it that after almost 800 pages guys finally started waking up and realizing whats going on around them. We work hard and do what we signed on for every day and now when the city hits the bricks all of a sudden we wake up? Guys we pick up garbage, its not who we are,its what we do..We go home at night and guess what, there's more garbage tomorrow..Do your time, get home safe and dont try to be a hero, and most importantly enjoy the benefits that YOU PAID FOR..U cant put years of mismanagement on our backs, Bloomberg, and hopefully Harry doesn't let you..
The salary is correct. We now make the same as the guys that were hired in late '07 that still haven't reached the next raise.
My 665 consisted of the 648.37 that everyone else got plus 17.07 i was owed from somewhere like that mystery 4.36 last week.
Got uniform too, nice check, wish they looked like that every week!!
If layoffs do happen, which I'm convinced they will, it is what it is. Some things are inevitable. I try and look at the bright side. Collect your unemployment check, find a little gig off the books a few days a week depending on your situation, and enjoy your summer like a champ, I know I will. When its 100+ degrees outside over the summer and Im soaking the sun on a beach with a cold corona TRUST ME i wont miss the job.
The only downside for me is that I really don't want to prolong reaching top pay and getting through probation. Like Retired San Man said, we'll all get hired back and hopefully by then the list will move alot faster. Just gotta ride the wave. I Wish everyone the best of luck.
yeh things will change rite now were in a slump.... the stocks market will start booming again hopefully one day soon.... this city will start making that cash once again and everything will go back to normal..... life is like baseball one month you hit 200 then the next month your batting 500 in the end it all evens out... the most important thing for us new guys is to protect this job......
if you do get laid off you go back to your garage when you come back right....also i read in the daily news that the state really wants to make it 25 50....

25/55 bro...which I hope will never happen in our lifetimes.

I totally understand not wanting to give anything back that you worked so hard to get.
I have a question though, a friend of ours otj brought over his contract book & in it (page 10) it says regarding the longevity increases...... "the 15 & 20 year steps are pensionable AFTER 25 years of service"
So don't most of you stay the 25 years in order to get the maximum pension? Because if you leave after 20 years you are kinda getting screwed, no?
If they change it to 25 years will they then make you work 30 to get the maximum?? YIKES! They are a little deceptive I've noticed, lol
are we losing pages on this thread ? I could swear there was 1 or 2 more than now. maybe I'm losing it
Yeah, you are correct. I just noticed that. We were close to 800 pages,we should be around 797,798. Glares at the mods in here.
