Just got my new bill mentioning the price increase on the upcoming cycle. Seems like my bill is going up by roughly $15.

This is normal but I wonder if the Comcast deal had anything to do with it or if others are experiencing the same thing ?

Otherwise yeah life goes on.

Do you have triple play or just one or two services with Time Warner?

It is normal in a oligopoly setting like cable and VERY normal when all other prices are inflating. Now I guess FIOS will have an excuse to do the same.

It's an old game that was best exemplified when Bethlehem Steel and U.S. Steel took turns initiating price increases.

Yes, I got a significant increase on my cable bill (internet only). I think I was paying $43, and suddenly it went up to around $55.

If any of you have access to RCN, you should consider switching. Especially if you only have internet. Henna, you could save yourself about $10 and have much faster internet. That being said, RCN customer service does have issues but I suspect it isn't any worse than customer service at Time Warner.

It also could be because your rate that you previously had was a promotion. I know that the rate I currently have with Time Warner is a a promotion only good for one year. After that the rate goes up. What you could do is call Time Warner and see if they are running any promotions usually you can get them to give you that rate.

FYI, I recently dropped Time Warner and got Verizon FIOS. I pay less with the Fios Triple Play, 50/25 Internet, and a Netflix subscription than I did for just Cable and Basic Internet with Time Warner. Service is MUCH better and I am saving $60 a month. Also got the $300 gift card.
Dump Time Warner now, they will only keep raising prices.

Yeah, but they only give you that rate for one year right? I had FIOS triple play at a great price for the first year and in the second it went way up. In the end I was paying $160 a month for TV and internet which is too much considering all the garbage that's on (and that was supposedly with another discount--otherwise it would have been $186)

I went with RCN for internet only and get 50mb for $35. I buy my programming on iTunes, view shows free over broadcast or watch it on Hulu or Netflix and its *still* much, much cheaper. Some cable channel apps have started to let you watch their shows for free without a subscription--not all though.

There are a very limited number of quality shows on cable. The rest is low quality reality TV.

I've been told by my doormen that this is a HUGE issue with RCN. I must say though that TW gets to you when you need them.

Rumor is Verizon charges you when they send someone out to your location...True or False ?
