This is my situation, i'm currently living with my sis and my lil bro,in a 4 bedroom apartment in ocean bay apartments in far rockaway(a NYCHA DEVELOPMENT),it's 3 of us in a 4bed because my father passed away on the day that hurricane sandy ravaged and devastated the area,my sis then took over the lease right after we buried our old man.My sis is getting a transfer somewhere in manhattan to be closer to her job and also downgrading to a 2 bedroom so she can take my lil bro with her, which leaves me out in the cold.I applied online already but no news from NYCHA yet, there's a vacant 1 bedroom on my floor,it's been vacant for at least 4 months now.So before my sis's transfer is approved what steps can i take to get that apartment or what should my next move be in order to secure my own apartment with NYCHA? I'M really hoping there's a way i can secure the vacant 1 bedroom on my floor,i'm not trying to move somewhere else.

Did your sis get her downgrade & did you get an apartment. It's so hard to get an apartment nowadays. But soooo easy to lose them. Hope all went well for you. And your family.
