If that's how they feel why don't they just move to some small town in Appalachia? New York most other coastal states have progressive politics. Big demographic changes are affecting the Southern states like Texas, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia. That leaves the poorest parts of states like WV, MS, and Arkansas for these people to move to.

....
This is just incorrect. If you mean the "NY effect" is going on down there where the a liberal populous city and 3 super liberal counties end up deciding the election for the entire state, then, kind of. But you are completely incorrect about coastal states like Georgia which are blood red.

FL county election map looks like this

Virginia looks like this

North Carolina voted Blue too, and, while close, still looks like this

TX is laughable. It couldn't be more red save for the liberal cities and border hopping counties

If it weren't for magority of states having an "all or nothing" electoral vote based on state popular vote Obama might not be in office right now.

And FWIW, plenty of people do move. NY lost over 45 billion dollars in tax exodus in the first decade of the 21st century and is continuing to do so.

The same is happening with businesses.

Number 2 on state debt. nice. Or should I say "ouch".

Yeah, NY should definintely keep doing what it's doing. Your future looks bright.

NYC and a few other counties have all of NYS's money and most of it's population, so of course they decide it's elections. DUH! As for debt, debt is the foundation of the capitalist system. All capitalist government issue bonds, as do all publically traded companies.

In terms of moving out, people have always moved in and out of NYC and always will. Your point?

The bottom line is Obama twice won the popular vote ,and he even won the popular vote in places like Virginia and Florida. No amount of whining will change that. Most people in NYS live downstate. No amount of whining will change that.

As for Texas's having liberal cities, as those cities grow in population eventually it will effect electoral politics in that state. California was once blood red, and look at it now! New York was a lot more conservative, and look at it now!

Sorry, didn't mention it before...NY had the HIGHEST rate of exodus among the 50 states AND lost the most money. So my point would be that the state is trending downward, not up. The situation is bad enough that people are voting with their feet, not their ballots.

The first thing I did after graduating college was move out of NY (LI). Instead of living in a 1945 cape thats run down to the ground for 400k and 12k a year in taxes I have a house thats 20 years old on 4 acres for half the taxes and a better school district.

Bush won twice too. I don't think we need to remind each other how much he sucked. That's the incumbent phenomenon.

Always remember that, people...
I can think of about a million things that should come before this rule. I think washing your hands after using a public restroom is a few orders of magnitude more important than this as would be having a strong foundation in science and mathematics and learning to control one's bladder as to not wet yourself whenever nature calls. The list is actually really extensive, so I might hold off on finishing it here.

Also, don't eat poop either your own or someone else's in virtually any situation. That one's also pretty important.
