Let's hope this is an anomaly, and not the result of the end of "stop and frisk."

You take away their ability to do their job in the name of civil rights. There is going to be price for that and I think it is not going to end well, especially the heavy minority neighborhoods.

Of course, they only interview the grandfather. There is no parents anywhere.

Hence, I carry a firearm everywhere I go.

It is absolutely despicable that the inability of the inner city to eradicate this madness results in the erosion of 2nd Amendment rights in the rest of NY state.

If 14 year old ghetto spawn can continue acquiring firearms, all of the "feel good" laws in Albany that only target law-abiding citizens are obviously worthless.

If the "inner city" had the same murder rate as the rest of the country, I am guessing that the US would have a murder rate that is comparable to most European countries.

It was senseless. Regardless of the punishment, the victim's family will never see him again. It could have been anyone of us. I think the parents along with grandpa should be given the same sentence as the kid.

You don't need to agree with him. His type of mentality is the highlight of this shooting tragedy imo.

I have encountered all sorts of ppl walking around with that sort of mentality in daily life. When problems arise and they are involved, their instincts urge them to argue in their own interest and to deny their faults. It takes a lot of self reflection and also education to correct this type of mentality.

So nyritedude, stop telling us that education has little to do with civilization.

I had you in mind when I read this story.
How on earth could bearing a firearm save you from a flying bullet hitting your head from behind? If anything, your chance of getting hit would increase 1000x if half of NYC residents carry guns around due to either accidental or purposeful shooting.

This is sickening and there should be no mention of poverty, influences, broken families etc as a way to rationalize this kind of behavior. It just adds to accepting these heinous acts as a part of life in these places. I know many intelligent, good people that have gone places or are going places despite being raised in the ghetto.

I'd have answered you if you didn't include this gem. It shows such a massive lack of knowledge about firearms culture in this country that conversing with you on the topic is pointless. There are many states where firearms are extremely prevalent. None have devolved into constant shooting galleries where every argument involves firearms.

And don't go posting the 3 sensational stories from Florida that occurred over the course of 2+ years. That would just show an even more incredible lack of common sense.

My knowledge about firearms culture in this country is indeed limited or close to none so I largely talk out of common sense. You are welcome to lecture me on this and I will listen.

And if you do not mind, please answer this: how many victims would have been saved had the gun been taken away from the easy reach of irresponsible citizens in: 1) connecticut school shooting; 2) aurora theater shooting; 3) virginia polytech shooting... just to name a few? In addition to the lost lives, the mental trauma that those shootings caused on those who are still living and the general public will persist. I understand that you are a trained firearm person and will probably use it responsibly. But there are way too many evil minds out there who are ready to blow up the world if you give them the ability. So for the interest of the general public, you might want to forget about the 2nd amendment. The society has been progressing and will continue to change, so does the law or other regulations.
