I will never understand why anyone would go to a chain restaurant like Red Lobster when you live in New York City, with some of the greatest food options in the world.

Because you and your wife combined income $75K paying 1350 for a 2 bedroom don't feel like paying 35 bucks for 2 live lobsters and rush home to cook them after busting their ass at work all week. And then worry about the sides. And then be like oh crap we forgot to buy the bottle of Corona to throw in the pot. From your humble dirty New Yorker mod.

The Red Lobster on Queens Blvd is always extremely overcrowded. My parents once waited 4 hours for food there. I of course, would never do that.
That's a draw back. I would recommend going early before the crowd gets big, say before 2PM and you should be fine, but I'm just speaking about red lobster locations in general, not queens.

Boy, you got it exactly right, SF.
The two of us buy 4 live lobsters at Shop-Rite in Jersey City every Memorial Day or Labor Day sale...they go for $5.99/lb twice a year and we pay $30. We have them with brown butter.
Of course. we'd love French fries, but they are a big pain in the ass to make.
Yes we'd love asparagus, but I have only two hands.
When we are done the dining table looks like a shark attack.
And for sir tiger going to 4-star joints for lobster...be ready with two or three Ben Franklin's or your company credit card.
People go to Red lobster because it is priced for the hoi polloi, not for hedge fund operators.
So tell us, where are we going to get these "cheap lobsters" you are talking about, Marie Antoinette?
I have often gone to Pennsylvania Red Lobsters and once to the one in Harlem. All visits were good, as expected, and pretty-much worth the money but this will be my first LOBSTERFEST. We used to favor El Quixote for decades (W. 23rd St.) but they got TOOO pricey, or else we got too poor. My equation is always VALUE = QUALITY / PRICE and that applies to everything I buy.
Thanks everyone who gave a Queens RL opinion rather than a diatribe about chain restaurants. Sounds like we'd best get there early to avoid the wait...I can't cope with waiting.

Why? Two words: cheddar biscuits.
Yes we know there are much better food options in NYC but sometimes you just have a desire for food from a chain. Just like sometimes you really want a Big Mac even though you know how bad it is.
And to be perfectly frank, when their commercials come on, especially when it's for their lobster fest, I get excited and go. Never been to one in NYC though, I go to the one in Scarsdale with my mom (lol!) and it's packed!

For my birthday I'm just going to go to the fish market and buy some frozen lobster tails for $19.99 a pound. 2 pounds worth should do the trick.

I've eaten in that particular Red Lobster but not in a few years. Red Lobster's are the same all over to me. Just go early and avoid on Friday's during Lent :-)
I thought the whole point of chains is that they're pretty much the same. If it'll make you feel any better, I generally look down on chains, but I'll admit that I've gone to an IHOP.
Have you ever been to that Spanish place in the Village(?) known for cheap lobster?

My chick found the recipe for the biscuits and she makes them as good as Red Lobster.
I really enjoyed Reb Lobster. For a long time it was mu guilty pleasure. I really miss the all you can eat shrimp days.
The Mozzarella sticks were among the best out there, HUGE portions, and a nice Cesar salad. YUM!
You used to have to roll me out of there. Now if I go there you would have to wheel me out on a gurney.
