So I know many of you look down on Red Lobster but we are going to try our palates at Lobsterfest next week. We went to the 125th St. RL last month and liked it.
But now a friend in Rego park is treating and, lo and behold, they have a joint on Queens Boulevard in Elmhurst...who knew??? She's rather not schlepp to West Harlem.

Anyhow, is the Elmhurst location much the same as the other Red Lobsters? Has anyone been?

Opinions welcome (except from those who hate lobster.)

Default Cuisine Context

Its an American chain restaurant. An upgraded MacDonalds. The philosophy of these MacDonalds style restaurants like Red Lobster -just because you order sitting down does not make it real food- is lab create the food in a central location so that even low performing staff can produce a similar product across hundreds or thousands of locations. To facilitate this philosophy the consumers are going to ingest tons of food that has been frozen and loaded with salt, sugar and preservatives. The lab results have shown that people love salt and sugar and will become addicted to it- since both are cheap they will load you up with both. Salty and sugar laden food is difficult to screw up so low performing, low paid staff can consistently make an edible product that backwater American consumers will enjoy and return for. This is American cuisine since the 1970s, enjoy.

I have walked by that Red Lobster Restaurant many a time (as it is in the mall bldg. that used to be Macy's and then Sterns). But since I don't eat shellfish, I have never been tempted to try it out.

Red Lobster is a fine place to get a good seafood meal. Just had lobster feast in a Miami red lobster (broiled and baked lobster). I must say that the red lobster in Miami was better than NY. The food was fresher and didn't taste fishy.

I usually go to the Red lobster in Scarsdale but have eaten at the Times Square red lobster twice. The food is good. The cheddar bay biscuits are the best. Fried calamari and veggies are a nice appetizer.

Red lobster isn't cheap, but it is cheaper than say city island.

Lobster feast at Red Lobster is great. I just wished though they give you the whole lobster.

I'm pretty sure it's easier and cheaper just to take them out of the ocean.

OP is the same person who says Ichi Umi is as virtually as good as top notch sushi places in nyc. Just eat any lobster place & it will seemingly be the same.

Also wanting to note there is a glut of lobsters out there in the industry. Therefore, lobster prices are at a all time low. You can buy them on the cheap & cook it yourself...very easy.

The Red Lobster on Queens Blvd is always extremely overcrowded. My parents once waited 4 hours for food there. I of course, would never do that.

Red Lobster has decent tasting food, but damn it's not worth neither the prices neither the three hour wait
