4 years of working as what and earning what? I believe full-time students are only allowed to work 20 hours a week. If you work on campus or as a waiter or shop assistant, you'll earn on average $10 an hour. That's $800 a month and $9600 a year. You haven't factored in expenses you will need in college - books, clothes, eating out, partying, etc. You won't be saving much.
Focus on going to a school you like and getting a good education to obtain your career. If your parents can't afford to pay for your housing for dorms, then yes, living at home is an option. Or look into financial aid.
NYC doesn't have to be an option when you graduate at 22. It can be something you look into later in life as well when you are earning a bigger salary. Plus NYC doesn't have that many pharma companies here. NJ, on the other hand, has a ton.
Are you joking, I went to school full time and worked 70 hours a week. Some people don't have people to fall back on and have to take care of themselves.
If you're not a powder puff and can handle the Army it might be a better option for you. I was military and you learn so much more about team work and leadership then any B School could ever teach ya.
