I'm under the impression that they're saying that they're closed permanently without actually saying it.
I've been in there twice mainly because I wanted to see in person a store from which is received catalogs in my youth. The store is not really all that special.
They did have an audio component room which is uncommon except in dedicated hifi stores.
I'd be surprised if J&R ever came back as a B&M retail store. The space is more valuable as something (anything) else. Also, this market is probably better served online.
J&R has been sinking for years. The only wonder is why they didn't shut earlier. I'll bet they are sticking their providers with a friggen FORTUNE in unpaid debt.
If they resurrect it will be only as a web presence.
It's really sad to see it closed down, the area is completely different when I walk past there recently, totally dead even it's just across from the Park, just sad. Hopefully they will reopen, not another Circuit City.
I loved that store to death. everytime i was in there they somehow played stuff on the overhead that i always listen to but nobody cares about anymore. everything about it meshed with my musical tastes and what i like in a music store
