Place needed to live-Albert Einstein College of Medicine (New York, Pelham: apartments, rental)

Albert Einstein College is in the middle of the Pelham Parkway/ Morris Park area and it is a very safe and inexpensive neighborhood.There are lots of well maintained rental apartment buildings on Pelham Parkway around the intersection with Williamsbridge Road ,which is also a good shopping/restaurant area.The 5 train also stops at Pelham Parkway and Williamsbridge Road.
You should should have no problem finding a very decent apartment in that area and you should be able to find the holy grail of New York living..... a nice apartment in a very safe, convenient area where you can WALK TO WORK and are only a few blocks from the subway for $1,000/mo.
Most of the buildings on Pelham Parkway have signs on the front with a number to call for available apartments so you can probably find one with no fee too !
And some great restaurants along Williamsbridge and Morris Park Avenue.
The area is one of the last ethnic Italian neighborhoods left in the city so there are a lot of mom and pop type bakeries,butchers,coffee shops,restaurants,etc.They even have a pretty big Columbus Day parade.
There are a lot of 2 and 3 family houses on the side streets so you have that option if you prefer it to a larger apartment building.The only slightly bad part of the neighborhood is to the north of Pelham Parkway North and just to the West of Williamsbridge Road.There is a a project there( Pelham Parkway Houses).It is actually known as one of the best(safest,cleanest) projects in the whole city and it is pretty tame but still,you probably don't want to live right across the street from it if you don't have to.You would probably want to look East of Williamsbridge anyway to be closer to Albert Einstein.
There is also another very nice( and safe and inexpensive) neighborhood called Pelham Bay.It is to the East of the Einstien/Jacobi complex and to the South of Pelham Parkway where the 6 train ends on Westchester Avenue

One such restaurant in that area I strongly recommend is the Venice. Good luck with the move!
For your rent, the best nearby area is Westchester Square. The Bx8 and Bx31 take you from the Square to Einstein. There's plenty of well-kept apartment buildings along Frisby and St. Raymond Avenues along with newly-built buildings on Westchester underneath the (6) line.
I live in the parkchester area of the Bronx, not too far from Albert Einstein. My mom worked as a nurseat the hospital and would often walk to work or take the bus which stops very close to the hospital. I am renting a room for about 6 months for $200.00 weekly.
