"An elderly couple was beaten and robbed inside their Queens condo Wednesday after two low-lifes tricked their way inside, cops said.

The heartless duo knocked on the door of the 85-year-old woman and 86-year-old man on 15th Ave. in Bayside at 2:30 p.m. and told them they were maintenance men, according to police.

Once inside, the crooks pounded on the couple and then raided the place, taking cash and jewelry, cops said.

Emergency workers took the injured pair to New York Hospital Queens, where police said they are in serious but stable condition."

Men Posing as Maintenance Workers Brutally Assault Elderly Couple in Queens, Flee With Cash, Jewelry | NBC New York

Appalling! There are no words......

"A next-door neighbor said he found the 85-year-old wife with her hands tied, screaming for help outside their home.

"Terrible. Poor woman was lying down, her face totally swollen, crying for help," he said.
The woman was "savagely beaten" in the face, the neighbor said, and the 87-year-old husband, who neighbors say had recently suffered a stroke, was hit in the head.

"It was a terrible, terrible scene," he said

I remember one incident back in my JHS days when a couple of kids cut school and ended up punching a elderly woman in the face so hard she choked on her own teeth. I'm sorry but anyone who randomly attacks, mugs, assaults etc. elderly people should get an immediate death sentence. I'm happy my grandmother moved out of East NY to LI.

Awful! What sadistic cowards. Hopefully they go to prison, And get beat-downs daily themselves.

Keep doors closed and locked unless you are expecting someone. These type of crimes are common in cities. I cringe when i walk past private houses or apartment doors and see them open on purpose. I remember living in an apartment complex years ago and strangers entering and trying doorknobs was more common then you might think. Scary.

Bay Terrace, in Bayside, is a very safe, suburban type area.

I'm wondering if the perps had seen them before and if they knew that the occupants were elderly.
