For such positions as Investments banking, wealth management and other high profile positions.
Is an MBA a better choice than a Msc in Finance/Finance and Investments and other specialized quantitative degrees ?
Is an MBA only a better choice if you can get it from a top tier school ?
Anyone here worked in a high level position in the financial industry ?

Where are you coming from?

As in, do you have any work experience, and what is your undergrad degree in? Are you a few years out of college and just now decided you want to do IB?

MBA is the main masters degree program that will be recruited from for those positions.

Most of the more reputable schools will want you to have at least 2 years of experience before applying for an MBA.

If you can get into a top tier school for an MBA getting a position in IB is going to be fairly easy compared to someone who didn't.

The Masters of finance programs aren't really for IB people and more towards financial analysts at F500 companies as an MBA is more about networking, and how businesses work. In IB you're just doing spreadsheets and presentations until you get into VP+ level where instead of doing the grunt work you're trying to sell your product (your companies ability to get the most money for them).
Also, the quant degrees will really only be useful if you want to go into a quant position. If you just want to be an analyst/associate and then move up, it will be completely irrelevant.

Hopefully you've been able to get some sort of internships or an analyst position because without getting one prior to graduating, getting one after graduation is exponentially harder.

All depends on what it is that you'd want to do for the bank.

Master of Business Admin. I don't think you should specialize yet because chances are you usually end up working on something that you didn't majored in just to get your foot through the door and eventually make your way.

Get into the best that you possibly can.

Also, if IB isn't something that you don't think you'd want to do, it most likely isn't. You could do a FLDP program and get to experience different departments in the finance world which would probably be the best thing for you.
