You're taking a risk leaving valuables in your car, even if you put it in a garage. All of the garages you park at will have signs up saying not to leave valuables and that they are not liable for anything that is stolen while the car is parked. What kinds of valuables are we talking about?

Keep in mind that if you leave it in ANY garage you will have to leave your keys. They pack those cars in there in tight little rows- basically like car tetris. It will be constantly moved around IN the garage in order for them to get other cars out. You will have people in and out of your car 5+ times per day at least.

Same advice still applies about not leaving valuables in the car, though.

OK, unknown, let's try again with it all laid out.

Port Authority Parking Garage
Self Parking, open 24/7
12th Ave at W 56th St
$42 per day
7th Floor has video surveillance

That's the best I can do.

Cover everything with a dark blanket and tint your windows.

You're worried about things getting broken if you ship so want to drag all your most precious items in the car with you.

Well, you can ship having packed well and reduce breakage to near zero and the same with theft of items or you can drag it all with you and be pretty danged sure at some point your car will be broken into.

Not only will that result in stolen items but whatever's left just might be broken not to mention the damage to the car - broken window, door lock, etc.

Shipping will leave the POSSIBILITY of breakage while dragging it all with you will leave you with the PROBABILITY of theft and/or breakage. And not just for your overnights in NYC. Even just a pit/lunch stop along the highway.

You are being foolish and naive.

If you do this you are only asking for trouble and will deserve what ever ill fate you get. Never ever leave valuables in a car valet or not.

.
THIS. I ship glass to china 3xs a week+ for work. Bubble wrap once, bubble wrap again, then line the box with bubble and it will get there as pretty as your packed it.

When I drive with my friend, we don't even leave our purses in the car to run in to Duane Reade. ALWAYS take everything with you.
