Hi,

I'm trying to move to the NYC-area, but I'm finding this mass transit thing to be horribly confusing.

Roughly from Times Square, what is the best public transit way to get to West New York, NJ?

Also, what's the best way to get to Hoboken, NJ?

I'm from the South and am totally not used to this, so please be specific.

Thanks!

From Times Square you can take a bus from Port Authority into NJ. Hoboken is route 126 and West New York Route 159X. New Jersey Transit

Hoboken is also accessible via the PATH train but the closest PATH from Times Square is 33rd and 6th Avenue. http://www.panynj.gov/path/

For West New York, there is also a ferry to Imperial / Weehawken which is close.

PATH is best to Hoboken from Times Square. Much better than a bus even if it's a longer walk to 33rd and 6th.

Thing is that with the 126 bus there are several stops that could get you close to your house. With PATH it's the Southernmost part of Hoboken period. You may then need to go a mile to your home...by bus or cab or light rail.

For West New York your only good option is the bus from Port Authority...but there are plenty of them up Kennedy Boulevard, Bergenline Avenue, or Boulevard East.
WNY is also a GREAT deal cheaper than Hoboken.

But hands down, Hoboken is the better place to live if you have the dosh.
