... on $195k in New York or I can take it in Paris or Madrid or London.

First three - six months are rent paid, after that I am on my own.

I have lived in London. No thanks, not again.

I don't speak any Spanish, and almost no French, plus I already spend two or three days a month in Paris, and that is plenty.

So, New York it is, from around late June or early July, if the contract goes ahead.

I am Englisn, married, two kids (very clever 8 and 6).

Should I

a. come to NY

b. go to Paris (naaahhhhhh)

c. go to Madrid

d. stay in my current job in the beautiful north of England and stop being restless?

Never been across the Atlantic (my wife has, a couple of months in Mississippi, still shudders).

What're the advantages... what would the kids gain.... would I be able to live on that money?

Very many thanks for any genuine tips hints or advice.

For your info, my teeth are fine and yes, I know, your food is better but your beer sucks.

You might like the beer better if you microwave it for a while. But don't bring it to a full boil.

So your wife was once in Mississippi which is nothing like NY. So I really wouldn't factor that into you decision...

It sounds like you already decided on NYC and you're looking for people here to validate that for you to get rid of any of your uncertainty.

With two kids, I would take a step back and think of what's best for your family. Schools, insurance, health care, etc are very different in the places you'd laid out. It's not simply where you might have more fun. You're saying "nahhhh" to Paris, so I don't even know why it's on your list.

What makes this a troll thread? The mention of income?

Ok I think you are definitely a troll.

But on the 1% chance you are not, why not visit NYC for a few weekends in the upcoming month? If you earn so much money, the hotel expenses will be more than affordable.
