I'll be in NYC from November 20th to 24th and need a gym to work out at during that time. Does anyone know of a gym that will allow you to pay per day? Or one that I can get a trial membership to? Thanks in advance.
I suggest the NYSC 30 days for $30. If you use it three times, that's $10 per visit, which is quite reasonable. There may be other places that would give you a trial day but I'm not sure about a trial week. Most places that would sell you a day pass are bound to be quite expensive -- like $25 per day or more (I believe).
Also, there's this Free New York City Gym Passes
but I would personally still prefer the $30 option at NYSC instead of hopping around or having to go through sales pitches every time you get a new free day pass. The gyms give free trials because they want you to join, so they will expect to see some evidence that you're a resident or about to become one and they will try to get you to join with an intense sales pitch.

For 4 days, I don't think it's worth the hasssle of even a "trial membership" because the pressure to join is simply not worth the benefit of two or three workouts.
No, nobdy offers a pay per visit. Many gyms make their money by having gung ho people sign up for a year like for a New Year's resolution, never to be seen again after February 1.
Have a good workout the day before you come and the day after you leave and while here just enjoy the CIty. All the walking you do will be equivalent to a couple aerobic workouts, believe me.
You can most likely get a trial membership or a guest pass at any gym. I'm not sure which area in NYC you'll be in so I can't give you a recommendation. Also, I'm guessing you're quite dedicated to working out like I am, but you should just take a break and enjoy NYC during the 4-5 days. And most to all gyms will probably be closed on Thanksgiving which is one less day to work out. Having that said, just do some push ups, crunches and pull ups haha.
If you still want to work out, I'd suggest you get a guest pass which is equivalent to your "pay per day", I'm sure most gyms will gladly sell it to you. Have fun!
Equinox is open on Thanksgiving, I think it is around $25 for a day pass.
If they give you a trial membership, they do not do any harassing, but you need to be a New York resident - possibility of joining.
I also think NYSC is probably the best bet. They had a deal, quite inexpensive, perhaps $35 ...? For a month, trial. Although that one may also depend on New York residence, don't know.
For 4 days why don't you do long walks then push ups and sit ups in your hotel room ?
I used to be a fitness junkie that couldn't go on vacation unless I "had a gym". Give your body a break and do something different but "active" when you are in NYC.
