Hi all-

Hope someone can help...

Our daughter is ill and needs to relocate to NYC next week for medical treatment. My husband and I are URGENTLY looking for a short-stay service apartment in the city so that we can be there to support our daughter. My husband works in the city so it won't be a problem for his job. Any ideas on how to find a service apartment? We need two bedrooms, pet friendly, preferably an elevator but not essential, rent approx 3000-4000 a month. We may be able to go up to about if necessary. Location we can be pretty flexible about- would prefer Manhatten/ Upper west Side, Riverdale or Upper East Side, but to be honest we will consider any area aslong as it is on bus route/ subway route.

We have been searching online for a service apartment but either they are booked up until some months away, or they are out of our price range. We are really desperate- if any one has experience of looking for a service apartment in NYC, or has any suggestions or can recommend something, we would really welcome your thoughts. We need something within the next week.

Thanks for any thoughts or ideas...really appreciate it.

What exactly do you mean by service apartment? Like a full service building? How long do you expect to stay? Where will your daughter be treated?

Here's an article about short-term stay apartments in NYC. Maybe some info in it would help direct your search. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/03/re...apartment.html

Have you looked on airbnb.com?

I imagine that your budget is the big issue here, since short-term stay apartments are much more costly than regular apartments, and $3000-$4000 is not that much in Manhattan. Riverdale should be much cheaper than Manhattan, but don't know if you'd be able to find a short term deal there.

Good luck to you and best wishes for your daughter's health.

I think the term "service apartment" is not common in NY. Try a google search of corporate apartments or furnished apartments in NYC.

Here are some leads:
Corporate Furnished Apartments | Short Term Rentals | Extended Stays
New York NY Corporate, Furnished and Temporary Apartments - ExecuStay
NYC Corporate Housing and Furnished Apartments | ABA IDEAL
