Morning commute and day time... I wonder if there were other people around during the robberies. I've heard quite a few robberies happen when there are people passing by without interfering, even though they knew it's robbery.

Its being shipped to Staten I and to the suburbs. The kids in the inner city still are mainly into weed. With crack head moms and junkie grand fathers they know that drugs is not good.

You say it as if this is something unexpected. As bad as things might be I don't think that lawyers are going to start gang banging, and neither will the hipsters. Their criminal involvement is more of the white collar type.

You have younger heroin junkies in the city. Drugs come and go and there are always younger people who sign on. Addiction tends to run in the family too (many who have alcoholic or other addict parents or grandparents fall into that trap).

The drop in homicides is due in large part to better medical practices.

How could anyone not see that coming? NYC's crime rate is always higher in the summer than in the winter (because people are out more) and this was a particularly cold winter with a particularly low crime rate.

DUH!
