So the Bronx has gone straight to the starbucks phase without ever passing though the poetry-slam-coffeehouse-with-yoga-lesson-fliers-on-the-community-board phase. Straight from bodega coffee to starbucks gnarly burnt crap without a pause for heavily tatted up barista babes ignoring your order for vegan scones whilst some beardos discuss fixie mechanics in line behind you.
I've been inside that Starbucks and they are indeed doing good business. Every time I've gone there's been a decent line. I'm not a big Starbucks guy. I make a better tasting joe at home with a French press but sometimes I get a tea drink or a frap from there.
i used to pull up to the one on Fordham and Kingsbridge when they opened on Sunday am's when it was open back in early Y2K. the current one looks so generic
Starbucks is just as mainstream as McDonald's and Dunkin Donuts, I don't see how this is a sign of gentrification
Gentrification no but there's no way anyone can deny that the area has changed quite a bit on the commercial level in the last 4 to 5 years.
