Anyone on the UES especially along Second Avenue any warm evening must have seen the sight: a middle aged slightly balding man jogging down the avenue in a leotard and tights, wearing a head band and makeup with his hair (what there was if it) in a "pony tail" on top of his head.
Thought he confined his running to just the UES, but one day was going down Second Avenue in the East Village around 18th Street and Ta-da.
Thought to myself the other day walking down Second Avenue from Fairway that one hasn't seen the guy this summer, or maybe even last as well.
If you google him, you'll find plenty of stuff to keep you entertained. He was a regular on the Stern Show for a long time. He's entertaining for sure, but I wouldn't necessarily want to cross paths with him. I've seen him running also, but usually just say to myself, 'Hey, that's Elliot Offen' and move on without otherwise acknowledging him.
Perhaps with all the SAS construction he has moved his "jogging" further down the east side to avoid the mess. I mean it is dangerous enough for drivers and bikers.
