This should be in the NYC forum (rather than the NY State forum).

You are accessory to her helping her commit a crime of not paying her subway fare. So the ticket violation is justified.

You can fight any violation, regardless of how obviously guilty you are. Why do you feel the need to ask this on a public forum?

Tell the judge that you were planning to marry because you believed that two can live as cheaply as one but, seeing the error of your ways, you will not marry this girl or any girl who would lead you down this path and instead devote your life to cleaning subway stations.

If 2 people go through a turnstile with only one fare then 2 people will get tickets.

If someone robs a store and someone else just drives what do you think would happen to the driver if caught?

This is absolutely true. You can fight the summons if you want to BUT the arbitrator will find you both guilty. The arbitrator will also allow you to make payment arrangements if you don't have the money. However, if you are found guilty and you DO NOT pay the summons, you and your girlfriend will be what's known as a transit recidivist. If you two lovebirds just so happen to do the same thing again and get stopped by the cops and they run your name, you BOTH will be arrested for theft of service. My advice to you is to pay the summons and get a Metrocard for the both of you.
