Well, the new station will be the opposite terminus, so perhaps the MTA has a point. Other articles have suggested that there will be 27,000 daily riders. That's almost 10 million per year. If that's paid fares, then round trips would mean 20 million coming & going annually.

Not happening. The 7 train extension was done as a part of developing the West Side of Manhattan.

This station is going to be a huge deal because it's going to bring everyone to a whole new neighborhood which will easily grow ten times over in the next decade

But the reason it's big is because it's so deep. The platform & mezzanine area istelf is huge and there are massive escalator banks and an inclined elevator shaft

Anyone that's ever tried to cram themselves on to a Northern Blvd bus, especially in the wintertime trying to get up to Main St. knows what you're talking about.
