we use either fresh direct or shoprite to deliver weekly. our time is better spent doung the things we enjoy instead of 2 hours coming and going grocery shopping.
we get our deliveries usually by 7:00-8:00 am sundays and then we are gone for the day.
So I see a lot of new task companies are popping up in the trending shared economy. Basically normal people doing tasks for normal people, like picking up their groceries, dry cleaning, assembling their IKEA furniture, etc. I know taskrabbit is popular in the city, but I saw a new company that is launching in certain parts of New York City next month called GrabGenie. According to the article I read it says that users can locate the GrabGenies (people who sign up to deliver items) in an area where they need something like a grocery store, and have it delivered to their house or wherever. As someone who never seems like I have enough time to get everything done, I would certainly use the service and like that I dont have to post and wait for someone to help me, but can actually see the location of people who can get something for me right away, but Im wondering if other New Yorkers feel the same way or if this company will flop.
As a transplant (15 years now) I find New Yorkers in general to be among the laziest people in the world and that is multiplied by a factor of 10 if the person is under 35. I have seen as little as one sandwich and a coke delivered just because it can.
I know a woman who has not made anything at home except the occasional oatmeal breakfast and a cup of tea in the last 20 years. And she wonders why she cannot save money and why she cannot lose the 20 pounds she needs to lose.
She will have a quart of milk and a box of oatmeal delivered and tip $10.

Agreed 100%. Most NY'ers couldn't survive a week without the trappings of modern society and a government that does everything for them.
... my wife . . the best thing she makes is reservations.
That is so wrong lol.
