Looking to move to New York City. I am a young professional, just graduated and Im wondering where the majority of the young professionals live in the city, as Id like to live in that area, or at least look into living there.

Depends on income. The more money, the closer in.

I think it also depends what type of profession - if in the creative fields, then what The Boros said. If a financial/legal professional then more DoomDan and bluedog2's suggestions, although I think the LES above Delancey is more suited towards creative pros. If in the technology field then all the suggestions could be a good fit.

All of the above.

Much will depend upon several factors including one's ethnicity/background and even sexual preference.

We see many more openly young gay professional singles and couples on the UES and Yorkville than in the past. In specific just out of college age twenty-somethings. However it still pales to say Chelsea, Hell's Kitchen, East and West Village, Soho and elsewhere down to the Financial District.

Where do young professionals live aka Yuppies? Hells Kitchen, Murray Hill, Kips Bay, UES, UWS, and pretty much all of Manhattan. Mind you not all yuppies make a lot of money, some do interning or even make 10$ an hour doing barista type of work. THen you have yuppies who live close to Manhattan in areas such as West Brooklyn like Williamsburg, Bushwick, Bedstuy, Fort Green, Green Point, Crown Heights, some live in Parkslope, Red Hook. In Queens they live in Astoria, Sunnyside, Woodside and Long Island City. Nothern Manhattan has plenty of yuppies in Harlem, Washington Heights and some in Inwood. Not famous for Yuppies, their is a small contigent of growing yuppie population in the southern parts of the Bronx that are close to Manhattan. All Yuppies want to be close to their jobs.

Most Yuppies in these areas are primarily from the suburbs either from the Tri-State area or for out of state like many Most Yuppies do not come from urban areas of NYC. They are culturally the same or in other words that I put it monoculture. Most are primarily white, however they are plenty of black and Asian and even Hispanic Yuppies as well. But any way you will fit right in if you are looking for this type of crowd. Don't forget your college sports jersey!

Any college paraphernalia is a tell-tale sign you're not from NY
